Halton and Greenbelt Areas

Halton Region and its Greenbelt areas have a number excellent cycling destinations and bicycle routes catering to a variety of cyclist types. Enjoy mountain biking trails for all abilities, rural road riding with mapped loop routes and the Waterfront Trail Burlington to Oakville and beyond.

Major Off Road TrailsConservation_Halton

  • Conservation Halton – Variety of trail systems primarily suitable for mountain biking at the following conservation areas:
  • Kelso – 22 km of scenic mountain biking trails over a variety of terrain. Races every Tuesday night.
  • Hilton Falls – 33 km of recreational trails, geared to mountain bikes.  
  • Mountsberg Conservation Areas – 16 km of trails suited to mountain bikes. Areas also host numerous mountain biking events. 
  • Burlington Hydro Corridors – Two green trails along hydro corridors, off road, paved. Hydro Multi-Use Path, corridor north of QEW.  Centennial Multi-Use Path, hydro corridor south of QEW 
  • Bronte Creek Provincial Park – 13km of park roads and trailHalton Museum

Cross Regional Cycling Trails

  • The Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail - The Waterfront Trail begins in Niagara-on-the-Lake and stretches 730km to the Québec border, with 900km of mostly paved and off road, signed trail. A large portion of the trail in along the waterfront communities of Burlington, Bronte and Oakville are off-road with some side connecting trails and on road bikeways.
  • Trans Canada Trail – A portion of this cross Canada trail runs through the Halton Region. Use the Trans Canada rail locator to find access points. Use the Trans Canada Trail locator to find access points

Established On Road RoutesHalton Hills Road Riding

  • Halton Region Loop Routes – A series of 7 on road cycling loop routes, of various distances. These routes will take cyclists away from urban areas, along scenic rural and lower traffic volume roads. Recommended for cyclists with road riding experience.
